There is no cost for the 50 young people from various cities and towns throughout Louisiana who embark on this experience of a lifetime. For one week, young people can be given a touch of hope and desire of a better tomorrow by forging long-lasting friendships with a Trooper.
CSTC’s Youth Leadership Development Camp is based at Camp Chicota Youth Camp, St. Landry, La., which is owned and operated by Prince Hall Masonic Grand Lodge F & AM of Louisiana. The camp is located in rural Evangeline Parish near Chicot State Park and situated on 130 acres, which includes an 8- acre lake and several spacious cabins.
In 2017, the camp was scheduled for June 25-30, 2017. There were 63 campers from all over the state. They were able to have an opportunity to learn and share a vast amount of skills, experiences and knowledge from troopers in such a short period of time, such as Conflict Resolution, Leadership, Good Grooming, Team Building, Self Defense and Stranger Danger.
