Ronnie Jones has more than four decades of state service including 33 years of service with the Louisiana State Police. He is a former state university faculty member and was appointed by Governor Bobby Jindal to the position of Chairman of the Louisiana Gaming Control Board in August of 2013. He holds that position today.
When Ronnie was appointed as the confidential assistant to the superintendent in 2008 he was selected to serve as the Executive Director of the State Trooper Foundation and oversaw an effort to reshape and implement an expansion of the Foundation’s vision and mission. The Foundation now focuses not only on youth programs but has expanded its work to include community investment at all levels in an effort to cultivate a positive and productive working relationship between law enforcement and those they serve. Moreover, the Foundation works to promote the professionalism of the Louisiana State Police through support of education and training initiatives and provides direct financial assistance to troopers who have been impacted by natural disasters or unanticipated personal crisis.
Upon advice from the Legislative Auditor’s office, Ronnie resigned from his position as Executive Director when he was appointed Chairman of the Gaming Control Board. The Foundation Board thereafter named him as Executive Director Emeritus. As a non-voting member of the Foundation he works closely with Foundation staff by providing non-compensated advice and counsel in furtherance of the Foundation’s mission.
